The Greatest Gift

My husband got fever on the first day of Eidul fitr followed by me 2 days later. I went to see doctor yesterday and was prescribe with antibiotic and paracetamol. None of the medication seems effective to me. For the time being I am still laying on the bed with fever, headache and sore throat. Hopes I will be a bit better tomorrow so that I can visit my farm this weekend. This situation remained me to Allah greatest gift. Nothing compares to healthy body and soul. That is Allah greatest gift.

Mother's Love

Two days after Lady Coco delivered her twins, a young doe had delivered a baby girl. Both mother and daughter are healthy. Actually I do not notice that this young doe was pregnant until Wak Nan told me so. May be because her size a bit smaller than the other does, probably because she is very young, around 1 year of age. By the way, this is her first delivered, and there is a bit tearing at her private part but Wak Nan already treated the wound, otherwise she looks ok to me. Even thought she is a young doe, she has no problem in nursing her baby. I just love watching her and Lady Coco nursing their new born babies as if I can feel the mother’s love and the babies happiness when seeing the babies waving their tail while sucking the milk.

Construction of The Log Cabin: 5th week

The worker completed the 5^th week of the construction day 1 week before Muslim celebrated eidul fitr. I only have a chance to visit the site during eidul fitr holiday but I haven’t got a chance to talk with the construction worker yet because all of them have already leave for holiday. Well, the roof is on, and the structure starting look alike a building.

Notice that there are banana suckers and corn seedlings infront of the cabin, they survived the drought.

Construction of The Log Cabin : 4th Week

I guess not much progress to share on this 4^th week. The roof just arrived on Saturday afternoon, but they cannot put it on because additional slat for the roof did not arrive yet. I think the workers just built the cabin wall for the whole week. Actually the cabin is not quite made of log; they use concrete as a base then mounted it with log. Let’s see what happen on the 4^th week of the construction day. hopes we can see something look alike a building next week.

Coco the loving mother has delivered to are beautiful twins yesterday afternoon. I haven’t gotten any chance to see how she is doing, but Wak Nan sent me some picture of the mother and the babies today. They certainly look ok. Coco is an experienced mom, she delivered three times since she arrived in 2010, unfortunately, we lost all of her babies. The first baby died to unknown decease, and we lost her twins to a boa. This is her third delivered, and hopes she can keep safe her babies.

Promoting Lenggong – World Heritage Site (Part IV) : Kota Tampan and Bukit Jawa

Beside “Perak Man” and “Perak Woman” Lenggong also well known for its Kota Tampan and Bukit Jawa archeology site. Excavation in Kota Tampan has been started since 1938 and revealed that it is a tool production area during Paleolithic t Age. This workshop was operated by the lake shore some 75,000 years ago. 50,000 stone tools have been found and recorded in Kota Tampan such as pebble stone, hammer and anvils. It is belief Kota Tampan has its own culture which calls the Tampanian. This workshop was abandon due to volcanic eruption in Lake Toba Sumatera Indonesia. Bukit Jawa is the only undisturbed Stone Age site in Southeast Asia. This Paleolithic site which dated 200,000 to 300,000 years ago is the oldest in Malaysia beside Kampung Temelong and Kampung Gelok. It is belief that Bukit Jawa was an Island which in the coastal area of the Lake Chenderoh. Excavation in Bukit Jawa that was done in 1996 discovered 150,000 pieces of stone artifacts. These findings strengthen the facts that Lenggong Valley is the oldest human settlement in Malaysia and one of the oldest in Southeast Asia.

Three acres lot at Kg. Chepor

We have finished planting rubber tree at our Air Karah 10 acres lot, now it’s time to think about our 3 acres lot at Kampung Chepor. Of course, the first yield would be the rubber tree, but we are still in doubt what plant to be integrated with the main crop. My husband likes to plant Persian Lime because these shrubs support our financial (a lot) for the time being. But we have to wait almost 1 year to obtain the return if we choose for lime. As I need earnest money now, so cash crop is the only solution. I am thinking about planting tobacco, I heard the gain is extraordinarily good. But it’s against my personal view. As an anti smoking person, it’s look hypocrite if I do something to support the industries. I check with the FAMA, and the FAMA officer suggested that we plant either Vitato potato or water melon. Till now still no word from my husband.

The Goat Pen

In early 2012, we built a new pen for our herds of goat. This pen was more comfortable for herds of 50 goats that we have. At present, we have only about 34 of them. Within six months, we lost 1 buck and 2 does to unknown disease and 9 kids to the boa.  This is a great lost since we rear them in 2010. But we are expecting to have a few newborn to increase the number by the end of this month. My son and I did the renovation work in converting the old pen into the newborn pen last month. This renovated pen would be use to keep the newborn for about two months or until they strong enough to follow the herds. We still have to do a few things on the pen to complete the transformation. Upon completion, what we need to make is a cozy, and comfortable resting and sleeping pad made of sack and hay for the expecting newborn.

P/S : For this coming Eidul Fitr, I am thinking to slaughter 2 goats for the festive open house.

*Open house is a Malaysian culture where we invite our relatives, neighbours and friends to have gathering in our house, in the month of Syawal.

Construction of Small Log Cabin - 3rd Week

We arrived early in the morning at Air Karah, to visit our construction site last weekend. From down the hill, we can see a blank structure look alike a tiny, little house stood up on the top of the hill. Oh my god! How small my cabin is? But its ok I guess, because it’s only for me and my husband. As for now,  our children are busy with their school and college life, only in the school holiday they would come to visit our farm and help us with the farm work. So, I think this "tiny little house look alike" would be perfectly acceptable for me and my husband. Soon, this small cabin would become our sanctuary in every weekend.
