Construction of The Log Cabin : Sixth and Seventh Weeks

It's been a long time I did not write about our log cabin which is under construction in our farm. This is the second week of the construction after Eidul Fitr holiday. Nothing much development I guess, except the guest-house have been installed. Unfortunately I notice there are differences between the roof in the guest-house plan and what have been built. Errrrr.. It's really plucking on my nerves.. I have told En. Rafi, The contractor, about this tonight at 1.30 am. Hahaha I bet he was in a deep sleep when the message arrived. I am looking forward to what he is going to say tomorrow.

Third Hatching

This is third natural hatching in our chicken coop, six new chicks. When my husband visited the farm last weekend, Wak Nan already put the chicks and the mom into the brooder. So my husband just makes a few shoots from outside the brooder. I do not know what happened to the older chicks which were 4 weeks old. My husband said Wak Nan already put them out of the brooder because according to his judgment the chicks are strong enough to live in the coop with the adult chicken. Emmmm I don’t think so, to me, I will let them in the brooder for about two months before let them free range. Let see what happen next weekend ..

The Incubator

I bought an Incubator from Zali Agro Farm a few weeks ago. Just now I just put 25 eggs inside the incubator after doing some research on how to use it for a few days. According to my reading, it is good if we can disinfect the eggs first before we incubated them. So I damp a “good morning” face towel using Listerine mouth wash and wipe the egg before I carefully tag the eggs. After that I arrange them nicely in the incubator. After I switch on the Incubator about nearly 2 hours, then I remember I forgot to put a bowl of water under the incubator tray. I quickly fill a plastic plate with water and put it under the tray. I admit I am a little bit panicky in doing this.. But if I do not try it now, I bet will never use it.. Let’s see what happen after 4 days.. Thank you to En. Zali who helping me a lot with my panic attack.

Fever and Fever again

I got a high fever for the last three days. I remembered I just got my last fever on 21st of August and now I got it again. My mom said maybe I am too tired juggling two jobs at a time. She told me to have some rest and she keeps on talking about health bla bla bla.. So I guess this weekend I will stay at home and follow her advice. This is 2nd weekend I did not visit the farm. Last weekend we were quite busy preparing for the Eidul Fitr Open House and sending my third son to Egypt. I hope everything is going well there even though without me present.

Update on goat kids : 2 weeks old

Our offsprings have been already 2 weeks old. Last weekend I didn't get a chance to visit them because I have to focus on the harvesting work. Because of that Wak Nan took several photos of them for me, they are already out of confinement pen and following their herd. They look ok to me except a bit skinny. I guess I really need to check on them this weekend. 

10 days old chicks and 2nd hatching

Our 1^st hatching chicks already 10 days old, a little feather can be seen on their wing. We still put them in the brooder with the mom. After 3 weeks they can live independently without the mom. By the way, 2^nd hatching had occurred in our farm but only with 2 chicks. The rest of the eggs had already eaten by monkeys. Its ok I guess, this is our 1^st attempt and so much more to learn.

New Harvest Record : 1.2 Tons of Lime

Last weekend we harvested about 1.2 tons of lime (or equivalent to 26 medium size sacks). It’s really a hard work for my husband, me and 5 others. It’s taken us 2 days to (partly) complete the harvesting process. I am glad with the return but a bit sad with my sunburn.
