Dragonfly mating season

Have you ever seen a dragonfly? A lot of dragonfly?  This is the second time I saw a large group of dragonfly flying around my farm. Last year I saw the same phenomena; I tried to shoot some photo but failed. This year they come again about the same time as last year, and I successfully got some picture of them, thanks to the dark clouds that make them visible.  I guess this is their mating season.

Birds of Air Karah : Four small birds under the lime tree (Zebra Dove Or Ketitir Or Merbok)

Do you know that Air Karah is a paradise for bird catchers. Every weekend I saw at least two or three groups of bird catchers wandering around Air Karah trying to catch Zebra Dove (ketitir/merbok), Blue-crowned hanging parrot (serindit), Emerald Dove (Punai Tanah), Red Junglefowl (ayam hutan) etc. Looking at their car plate number I know they are from Kedah, Penang as well as Perak. Unfortunately I don’t have the opportunity to take their photos.

Water Buffalo : Part of Bukit Sapi Landscape

If you travel along the road to my farm, cow and water buffalo was part of the landscape. Everywhere you can see road signs that remain you to beware of buffalo or beware of cow. I think the signs were serious, one night (a few weeks ago) we nearly accidentally hit a cow during our journey from Kuala Lumpur to Lenggong. And last week I had some experienced with water buffalo. I parked my sedan car under the hill below my farm. When I opened the car's door suddenly I noticed that I was surrounded by a herd of water buffalo. Nothing to worry about because they are tame animals but ready to strike if disturbed. I slowly took a few shots then hops on my husband's motorbike before the herd felt disturbed.

Green Crest Lizard of Lenggong

I found this beautiful small green creature last week hanging on my mangosteen tree. My husband told me that they called it PokKoh. What a funny name this lizard has. Frankly speaking, I do not know for sure what this creature real name. I never found it in my home town, in Borneo Island, but for sure its can be found easily here in my farm. I know that its got some kind of poison because my brother in-law’s cat fall sick when accidently catch and eat it. Through  my searching in Internet, i found out its call Green Crest Lizard. Its got its name from the series of crest occurred behind its head. Its commonly found in lowland forest and secondary jungle. Its can change its colour to dark brown when disturbed. Its diet mainly on insects and other small animals

its got dark circle around its eyes

good sign, its never change colour to dark brown

close encounter with malayan gaur (Seladang)

Its was misting morning in Air Karah we just had our morning breakfast about 8.00 am at "Warung Kak Bari" (name of a coffee shop) and proceed to our farm. All the boys were in the back of my husband 4X4 Hilux while my husband driving, I sat beside him. Just a few meters away from my farm we saw a huge solitary young Malayan Gaur (seladang) grazing beside the road. At first, we mistaken him to a water buffalo, suddenly my husband stopped the car and said "Seladang" he reversed his car and said " take a picture". Sound from the car's engine makes the Seladang stop grazing and stared at us, the boys were quiet at the back of the car. I took a few shoots. At one time, he looked disturb, I thought he will ram into our car, and told my husband to go off, but my husband said its okay. He was right, after a few minutes staring at us The Seladang just walked away.
(Malayan Gaur (Seladang) is the smallest subspecies of Gaur. They are found only in Malaysia and Thailand. They are active either early in the morning or late in the evening. They are protected species in Malaysia.)

not a full-grown adult, maybe his herd have been killed by poachers

In Malaysia, Seladang is highly threatened by pouching for domestic consumption

sometimes Seladang goes into the fields and graze alongside domestic cattle
seladang has a white tail, that's make him different from a bull
